Wooden Realms is a world full of creatures, monsters, and locations to get lost in and with.
It is a culmination of a lifelong urge to create stories and worlds beyond the bounds of reality, brought to life through the versatile medium of wood.
TTRPG Modular Tilesets
-
A reimagined TTRPG Dungeon Tileset system, crafted entirely from sustainable wood and hand-painted with high-quality acrylic paints. These tiles are designed to be both durable and visually striking, bringing an authentic handmade touch to your tabletop experience.
To maximize usability for both GMs and players, all tiles are modular and seamlessly fit together. Each tile's underside features a blank grid for easy integration into your games.
We use a standard 1-inch × 1-inch (2.5 cm × 2.5 cm) grid, compatible with a wide variety of existing miniatures.
As we develop new Tilesets, we will include transition tiles to ensure compatibility between all sets.
-
The first completed Tileset, now available for made-to-order production, is the classic Cave Dungeon Tileset. This set includes a variety of dead ends, corners, crossroads, small openings and holes, and a 9 × 9 room that can be arranged in multiple configurations to suit your adventures.
The Cave Tileset contains 50 modular tiles with a 3 × 3 1 inch/ 2.5cm grid per tile and around 70 tile connector pieces to connect all the tiles together.
-
We understand that not everyone’s budget allows for a fully hand-painted Tileset, and we know how rewarding it can be to customize your own. That’s why we’ve decided to offer all Tilesets in two editions: unpainted and hand-painted.
Of course, this also translates to a noticeable price difference, making the unpainted edition a more budget-friendly option.
TTRPG Miniatures
-
The idea of making TTRPG miniatures out of wood came from combining my love of woodcarving with a newfound interest in TTRPGs. Before that, my focus in woodcarving had primarily been on crafting trinkets and small fantasy creatures.
It wasn’t a far stretch to imagine creating creatures and beasts that would fit seamlessly into most TTRPG settings.
Unlike most printed miniatures, wooden miniatures offer unmatched sturdiness. Additionally, the fact that each piece is handmade brings a level of diversity and character to the table that is hard to achieve with mass-produced miniatures. When paired with wooden modular TTRPG tiles, they create a distinct and rustic style that enhances the tabletop experience.
-
All the miniatures are carved from linden (basswood), a wood that is sturdy yet easy to work with. Most pieces begin as blanks measuring 2.5 by 2.5 cm, making them compatible with standard battle maps.
Once a design is finalized, I create a master carving and then make 1 to 10 more of the same design. These may differ slightly in details like armor, weapons, or expressions to add variety.
After carving, I apply a coat of clear primer to help the acrylic paint adhere better and appear more vibrant. For painting, I use Amsterdam Regular Series acrylics, which provide strong colors and are easy to work with.
Finally, I add a thin layer of acrylic varnish to protect the miniature and give the paint a subtle finish. This varnish ensures the carving is durable enough to withstand regular use—even the occasional spilled drink.
-
Each wood-carved miniature takes between 20 minutes and 1.5 hours to complete, so prices start at around 15 euros and can go up to 60 euros per piece. For the most up-to-date pricing, please visit my Etsy shop (link below).
I also accept custom orders. If you've seen a goblin but want an entire army instead of just one, feel free to reach out, and we can discuss the details of your order.
